Wii Nunchuk Controller

The Wii Nunchuk controller is a secondary controller that adds even more innovation to the next generation of gaming, and does it all with less physical movement.

Used in conjunction with the standard Wii remote, certain games need the Nunchuk controller for additional control options. Contoured perfectly to fit a player's hand,

the Nunchuk controller builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote controller. The Nunchuk contains the same three-axis motion sensor found in the Wii Remote, but also includes an analog stick, and two buttons to help assist in character movement.

Many games will allow you to control your character's movement with the Nunchuk in your left hand, while your right hand is free to execute the action movements with the Wii Remote. For example, the Nunchuk is particularly useful for games like Wii Boxing. You can use the Nunchuk to punch with your weaker hand, while you use the Wii remote to punch and jab with your predominant hand.

In first-person shooters, the Nunchuk controller carries the burden of movement, freeing you to aim and fire using a more natural motion with the Wii Remote. In a football game, you can make your quarterback elusive with the Nunchuk controller while you search for an open receiver to throw to using the Wii Remote. Serious gamers may even want to use two Nunchuk controllers to gain a fierce competitive edge.

Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. Perfectly suitable for either right or left-hand use, the Wii Nunchuk controller grants accessibility not often seen in previous game controllers.

Also, the Nunchuk controller doesn't need its own power--it plugs into the Wii Remote controller when it's in use. So there's no need to worry about charging or replacing expensive batteries.

Adding a Nunchuk to your Wii system will definitely help you open the doors to the next level of gaming, and seriously step up performance. Just be careful not to knock out your significant other, or bruise the dog, severely, while using one, or two Nunchuk controllers.

Customer Review: What is this? A game?
I decided to buy this Wii Nunchuk because my son said he wanted one. It had a low price, so I went for it. When I got it, I noticed that the nunchuck is made of plastic and has this knob-like button thing on it that sticks out. The chain is made of plastic, and is way too long. Plus, you get only one side. I can't see how this could ever be of use in a fight. It's not balanced, there is nothing to hold when you go to hit somebody with it, and I don't think that plastic cable would hold up very long. It turns out that the plastic cable plugs into a Wii remote control. Still, it's a far cry from a real nunchuck. The remote is way out of balance with their nunchuck, and with that extra long cord, it's useless in a fight, or even for practice. I'd recommend going to a good martial arts store and getting a traditional pair made of wood with a good steel chain. I ended up letting my son use it as something to play with since I couldn't think of anything else to do with it. To my surprise, he likes it. The Wii somehow knows when he is shaking that thing, and that useless knob thingy actually becomes useful. So I figured I shouldn't be so hard on the product since cheap sony games can really have fun with it. From what I gather from my son, it adds value to the game and makes playing with the Wii more enjoyable. I found out that some games are better suited to this than they are to the remote control alone, and the action of this thing fits in smoothly with playing the game. My son told me that he thought the everybody with a Wii should get one. Go figure. So I'd have to say that the bottom line is that this is pretty useless for real martial arts, but is a "must have" item for playing some games. I decided to rate the thing based just on the game part, because for martial arts, I'd have to give it zero stars. My daughter says it doesn't deserve 5 stars because they should have included one with every remote, but I couldn't get either of the kids to name anything they don't like about it when using it.
Customer Review: Why 2 controlers for the Wii?
Everyone knows why the Nintendo Wii is so different and that is mostly due to having to stand up and play and not just sit on the couch. I don't use the nunchuk very often, but when you do it's a lot different using both hands to play a boxing game and it's pretty realistic to throw punches with both hands, cause that's the way boxing games should be played.
